MTN Cameroon

MTN Cameroon is the leading service provider in Cameroon's mobile telephony market. The company was created on February 15, 2000, following the acquisition of Camtel Mobile's license by the South African Group, MTN. By December 31, 2008, MTN Cameroon had 3,574,000 registered subscribers, or 62 percent of market share. With sales of 182 billion CFA francs as of December 31, 2008, MTN ranks among the top five companies in Cameroon. To date, MTN Cameroon has invested nearly 300 billion CFA francs toward the development of a state-of-the-art network comprising over 546 relay stations, providing network coverage to more than 84 percent of the urban population as of December 31, 2008.
