Mushing
The new mushing magazine owners Nils Hahn, Diana Haecker and their daughter Lizzy Hahn at the 2017 Shishmaref Spring Carnival Herbie "The Shishmaref Cannonball" Nayokpuk Memorial sled dog race. Mushing mag is under new ownership of Nils Hahn and Diana Haecker. We are a husband and wife team with a teenage daughter, and we are dedicated to mushing and bringing mushing news and stories to you. We are located in Nome, Alaska, and own and operate an active sled dog kennel about seven miles outside of town, where we live. We both run dog teams and when we dont, we run Alaskas oldest newspaper, The Nome Nugget, a weekly community newspaper. Nils was born and raised in Germany, and has lived in Alaska for 20 years. Nils came to the Great Land for the sole purpose of mushing and has finished the Iditarod four times, ran the Kuskokwim 300, Kobuk 440, Arctic Circle Championships, Fur Rondy and many other races in the state. Nils works at The Nome Nugget as the advertising manager, and as the owner of mushing mag, he will be doing the same for the magazine. Diana was also born and raised in Germany, and relocated first to Hawaii in 1996 and then to Alaska in 2002. She has a Masters degree in Japanology, Politics and American History and has been a reporter for 30 years. She is the editor at The Nugget and will assume the same role at Mushing Magazine. When we acquired the magazine two weeks ago, we knew that the previous owners fell behind with the publication of three issues. We will honor paid subscriptions and subscribers will receive the paid-for editions. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Were looking forward to gather stunning photos and write stories from the trails and to bring you the best mushing relevant coverage of races, news and adventures.
