The Music Box
Its aim is to explore the world of pop culture through critical analysis and commentary. Featuring concert, album, book, film, and DVD reviews as well as news, concert listings, interviews and feature articles, streaming audio and video, and contest giveaways, The Music Box covers a wide array of genres including indie rock, blues, jazz, jam bands, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, country, folk, and pop. The Music Box is not the typical online publication. The Music Box's journey began as a hard copy magazine, and between 1997 and 2003, it gradually converted to an e-zine format. Since its inception, The Music Box has been widely recognized and accepted by a wide array of mainstream media outlets. The Music Box is an ad-free zone, and The Music Box has not received compensation, financial or otherwise, for the placement of anything that appears on the site. The Music Box is 100% supported by its readers. Like any newspaper or magazine, we often are provided with CDs, books, DVDs, and other materials for review. This, however, does not influence our opinion. We also pick and choose what we want to cover without any influence from outside sources. Our goal is to provide a trustworthy service to our readers. In this regard, we are as likely to offer a favorable opinion of something we did not receive as we are to offer an unfavorable opinion of something we did receive. Articles and reviews that originally were published in The Music Box also have been featured in an array of newspapers and magazines, including the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Norman Transcript, the Florida Times-Union, the Burlington Free Press, and Country Standard Time. The Music Box also was a regular Friday feature of Christine Zoro's Up and Running on WKZE 98.1 FM, and founder John Metzger has been interviewed on CJIQ 88.3 FM in (Kitchener, Ontario). In May 2007, The Music Box began being utilized as a resource for Google News.
