Mustard Seed Asian Cafe

The Mustard Seed was started in1978 in Missoula, Montana by a group of friends and family. Included in that group were Betty and Nancy Tokumoto and Betty's husband, David Hall, who still is active in the company today. Betty and Nancy grew up in Okinawa, Bangkok, and Hawaii and attended college in Oregon; so they have a unique ability to blend the cooking styles of the Far East with the tastes of the Pacific Northwest. Gary Siemens, a Missoula physician joined the company in 1984. Craig Langel, an accountant, joined the company in 1997. Ed Schafer, active general manager, joined the company in 1999. Our Asian-style dishes are prepared with fresh vegetables, lean meats, and light sauces. Most items at the Mustard Seed are prepared from scratch: whole shrimp are hand peeled, our vegetables are cut fresh every day, and our signature sauces and dressings are made by hand. Our menu is healthy - we never add MSG or oxidants. We have always tried to provide the best quality at a reasonable price. Our facilities offer a casual, comfortable atmosphere where we know you will enjoy your dining experience. If you prefer, take-out and delivery services are available. The Mustard Seed continually strives to bring imaginative and tasty new items to our already expansive menu. Over the last year new items have included: Asian tacos, Thai-style Caesar salad, black bean and lime halibut, seafood stir-fry, garlic mushroom beef, wilted Asian greens, and shrimp won tons. We have a location in Missoula and two locations in Spokane area. The Missoula restaurant is located in the Southgate Mall. In Spokane we have 2 locations in the Valley and northtown mall. So please join us for lunch or dinner when you are attending an event at any of these facilities. We are proud of our reputation in the community and for the recognition our restaurants have received in the past. In 1999, we received the best Asian dining awards from The Spokesman Review, and The Inlander. In the Inland Northwest Family Magazine we received the award in 1999 through 2001. These are just to mention a few of our recent awards. Our customers have come to expect great food and excellent service.
