Albano Cleaners
Opened in Norfolk, Virginia in 1935 by James A. Albano Sr., Albano Cleaners began processing Navy foul weather clothing under direct contract with the United States Navy in 1942, to support the war. Albano Cleaners was the first plant in the country to develop this service, a renovating service on heavy weather clothing including cleaning, waterproofing, repairing, and leather refinishing on flight clothing. After WWII, the focus shifted to civilian business and developed to eight delivery routes, dry-cleaning, repairs, alterations, waterproofing, fur cleaning, and storage. In 1974 James A. Albano Jr. took over the company from his father. Throughout the 1970's and the 1980's Albano's continued to expand throughout Hampton Roads, Louisiana and Puerto Rico. In 2007 the company passed to the third generation of the Albano family, Jamie Albano, daughter of James A. Albano Jr. Today, Albano Cleaners still strives to be your quality cleaner with full service options.
