My Local Foodie
The vision for My Local Foodie was developed out of the idea there must be a better way. After leaving corporate life in 2003 Tim decided to follow his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own café. He soon realised how hard it is for independent retail food businesses to get a good deal when it comes to supplier pricing and saw the need for a buying group to be created to support the independents cafes, restaurants and pubs out there. My Local Foodie was established in 2006 and for the first two years was run out of Tim's home office with a team consisting of Tim and two sales reps. My Local Foodie's first clients included Fish 'n' Chip franchise Flakey Jakes and Burger Chain Urban Burger with Open Door Pub Company becoming the first pub group to join up and who are still client today. How My Local Foodie developed into what it is today was foremost to save clients' money by establishing the My Local Foodie Buying Group. After the first year; even though clients where buying better and getting great prices they were still having difficulty costing profitable menus. This is where Tim saw the need provide clients with a food costing solution. After spending the first few years working with excel spreadsheets and the various other menu costing software out there; Tim had an epiphany and with that the Cost-i-mator was born. In 2008 My Local Foodie moved into the York Street office in South Melbourne and introduced clients to the first working version of the Cost-i-mator. Since then the Cost-i-mator has gone through 4 upgrades with version 5 due out in early 2012; with each new version improved functions and usability have been passed onto clients and My Local Foodie will never charge clients for software upgrades as we feel it should be included in the service we provide.
