National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee

NAIDOC Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, achievements and continuing contributions to our country and society. In 2021, the Australian Government has committed $1.4 million for the NAIDOC local grant activities through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy. In 2020, more than 500 organisations across Australia received funding to support their NAIDOC events. Given the changing and variable impacts of COVID-19 across Australia, activities must be adhere to relevant government and health advice to limit the risk of transmission of COVID-19, particularly with respect to protecting elders and those with chronic health issues.
