The Association is the leading point of contact in the industry for governments, media and others interested in the positions and policies of the Namibian uranium industry. The NUA promotes industry's adherence to strong sustainable development performance, product stewardship and compliance with the Namibian Legislation framework. WE WILL ACHIEVE THIS BY: Advocacy, Communication, Awareness, Public Outreach and Education A Commitment to Sustainable Development - As members, we will seek to balance the protection of environmental values in the areas that we explore and mine, with the social and cultural needs of the communities around which we operate and the people we employ and with the business and economic imperatives of our shareholders. Uranium Stewardship -The NUA plays an integral role in promoting universal adherence to the World Nuclear Association's (WNA) policy document on uranium mining standards through communicating with stakeholders and promoting the use of common indicators to ensure compliance. Members contribute to activities through which we support the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technology. In our operations, we aim to protect individuals, society and the environment from any harmful radiological effects. We will engage others in the nuclear fuel cycle to support their efforts to do likewise. Supporting Appropriate Regulatory Arrangements - Members will work with governments, industry and other stakeholders to achieve fit-for-purpose public policy, laws, regulations and procedures that facilitate the contributions of uranium exploration, mining, processing and exporting to sustainable development within Namibia's sustainable development strategies. Members will, as a minimum, adhere to the applicable international and national laws, regulations and codes that govern the industry. Avoiding Anti-Trust Behavior - Members will not engage in any anti-competitive behavior. Transparent Reporting - Members will implement effective and transparent engagement, communication and reporting arrangements with their stakeholders.
