Northern Border University

Before becoming independent, NBU was supervised by King Abdulaziz University. Initially, when the NBU was established in 2007, it was overseen by the much more established King Abdul-Aziz University (KAU) in Jeddah which ran the new university's day to day operations, including supplying the faculty, administration, institutional know-how and curriculum. Consequently, all programs of the NBU College of Engineering applied the KAU system until 2011 when NBU had gained enough experience and expertise to assume complete control of administration. Based on the recommendation of the fifth university council of King Abdulaziz University for the academic year 1427/1428 held on May 23, 2007 (6/5/1428 H), the Council of Higher Education issued its decision no. 20/46/1428, on June 17, 2007 (2/6/1428H) approving the creation of the College of Engineering at Northern Border University (NBU).
