NEST Homes

The Nest Homes design center is home to an endless supply of samples, from brick, shingles, countertops, cabinets, hardwood flooring, tiles, carpeting, cabinet hardware, lighting, and plumbing fixtures. We are a semi-custom home builder, so we have organized trend-forward selected collections that come standard with your new home. As you take an active role in deciding your home's design, you cannot help but be super-excited as if you are inside Charlie's Chocolate Factory! There are choices and choices, galore! Let's walk through what to expect, the questions you should be prepared to answer, and some planning tips to make the most out of your visit. Wha t is the Design Center Process? Expect several scheduled private appointments with our lead designer, averaging a few hours each. You will get a clear understanding of what is an included item versus an upgrade. Typically a buyer will spend 5-12% of the home's base price on options to fine-tune their new home, but this varies from individual to individual. How should I prepare for my visit? We recommend that you have already thought through your home and what the essential areas are. Having a good understanding of the look you are trying to accomplish is vital. This way, our lead designer can work with you to achieve your goals within your budget. Having a needs versus wants discussion is good practice. Can you clearly define your style? Do you lean towards traditional, modern, or somewhere in between, like transitional? Check home design websites, blogs, and magazines for ideas. Collect pictures, magazine tear sheets, fabrics, and paint samples that appeal to you. Bring photos of your furniture or images of furniture you like. The more you can share, the more our lead designer can help you put it all together. Do you have a good understanding of your lifestyle? How you live impacts the design choices you make for a new home. Instead of following what is trending on Pinterest, consider what would make your day-to-day life better. Think about how you can leverage your design choices to make your daily life as comfortable and straightforward as possible. Understand what is included in your new home. Get a list of standard features and try to view them before your visit. Drive through our communities to visualize available exterior finishes and colors. Learn about warranties, and paint durability. Do you have a budget prepared? It's best to arrive at the showroom with a clear understanding of your budget, which will help you stay within your financial means, which can quickly get away from you if you're not prepared. Determine your must-haves and nice-to-haves! Identify items on your wish list that would be impossible or too expensive to do after move-in, for example, structural changes to the floor plan, removing a wall, adding a ceiling fan box, or a built-in home smart home system. You also may want a gas line on the patio for the grill or extra electrical outlets in the workroom or garage.
