Netball
From our humble beginnings in 1995 as Michelangelo Netball Club, in 2005 Western JETS Netball Club was born and has evolved since, becoming affiliated with the Netball SA's AMND competition in 2001 and playing at Netball SA stadium. Starting with just 5 teams, with an amazing amount of effort our club is now proud to field over 25 teams at Netball SA Stadium to make us one of the largest netball clubs in the premier South Australian winter and summer netball competition. As a relatively new club to SA netball, we have a great energy and enthusiasm for our JETS community and the benefits that sport has on young people. We understand and take seriously that our club is a community of nearly 1000 people and netball, and sport in general, is a great way to form the foundation for young people to learn skills that will stay with them for a lifetime. From our fantastic Junior Jets (Netsetgo!) program for 5-7 year olds to our newly appointed Premier League side, we cater for netball for all ages and all standards. We want to provide a community for people to be involved in whatever capacity suits them, whenever they want - playing, umpiring, coaching, administration etc. Western JETS have a proud history of strong, competitive and successful underage teams and one of our current goals is to provide a more defined pathway for high-achieving netballers to play at the very top level. In August 2010, Western JETS was named as the only new club to be given Premier Reserve status within Netball SA's re-shaping of the highest pre-elite competition. 2011, 2012 and 2013 we saw our reserves grade place 5th with 2014 being our most successful in our short history and coming runners up after a very strong season. In 2014 we were once again the only new club to be accredited this time with Premier League status recognising our hard work and passion to become a true "Pathway Club" to the Thunderbirds. In 2012 we began our TID incorporating our pathway coaches and umpires and have continued and in 2014 joined with Mt Lofty Academy Region to have round robin and training sessions together at Netball SA stadium. In 2015 we will again hold our "Shooting Stars" development with players attending the "3 cheers program" run by Netball SA. Junior Jets (Netsetgo!) is run in the first and third term. Trials for summer are held at the end of July/Aug and trials for winter at the end of November/ December. Details are on our website www.westernjets.com with registration links available. We are proud of what the Western JETS have achieved in our short history and are excited about the upcoming winter season and beyond.
