Netcare Access
Netcare Corporation was originally known as the Southwest Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center, Inc. It was founded in 1972 and was located at 854 West Town Street. Netcare began as a community mental health and retardation center and has since grown into a comprehensive network of crisis and assessment services. The following timeline represents key elements in Netcare's existence and growth through the past years: 1972 Following its incorporation, the Board recruited and hired executive director, James O. Gibson, who was given responsibility for program development and hiring of staff and leadership for ongoing community planning. Early in 1972 a full range of outpatient services including specialized services for children was established at five locations throughout the catchment area. In December, 1972, Netcare opened 24-hour emergency services.
