Niche Gifts and Specialist Whiskies is a family-owned and run company, and opened its doors in November 2014. The family of four is made up of Mum - Janet, Dad - Jim, Daughter - Harvest and Son - Jonathan. Between them they have over 30 years experiences in the whisky industry, 20 years retail experience and over 30 years administrative experience. It was always a dream of Janet and Jim to open their own shop and after the 2012 launch of 'The Pearls of Scotland', a specialist whisky shop seemed like a natural progression. Whilst this idea was coming to fruition, Harvest and Janet were struggling to find the perfect gift for a friend. After countless visits to other gift shops, and finding almost identical products in each one, the idea of Niche Gifts was born. After visiting some trade shows, it became apparent that the different gifts they were looking for did exist, and all they needed was a platform from which to share these with the public. An opening became available at their local shopping centre - The Avenue in Newton Mearns and it was all systems go for Niche Gifts and Specialist Whiskies. The shop opened its doors on 22nd November 2014. Here at Niche, we aim to bring back the shopping experience of days gone by. As well as being family owned, we also staff the shop, meaning we can take on board any comments or stock requests you may have. Although our ethos may be 'old school', our gifts are an eclectic mix of both traditional and modern. We aim to regularly add new products to our ranges so make sure you pop in if you are passing. We strive to provide a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere whether it is your first or tenth visit to the shop and love getting to know our customer's stories.
