Night Zookeeper
Night Zookeeper was created by Wonky Star Ltd. a social enterprise based in London, UK. It was established in 2011 by university friends looking to improve children's literacy skills and bring creativity and self-expression to digital play. It released its first product, an iOS app called Drawing Torch, in November 2012. The creative drawing app went on to win App of the Year in The Guardian newspaper. The company's next product was another iOS exclusive called Teleporting Torch. Teleporting Torch was a drawing app which delivered daily creative writing and drawing challenges to its users. In 2013, following additional funding from angel investor network London Business Angels, Night Zookeeper released nightzookeeper.com a web-based education and creativity game, where children drew pictures of their own magical animals which were then brought to life using animation. In September 2014, responding to demand from schools, nightzookeeper.com launched a teacher dashboard where the stories children were creating could be saved and automatically-assessed. In 2015/16 the company doubled in size, released a VR app and was nominated for a BAFTA in Primary Education. It also won Exporting Excellence awards from the London Book Fair and Education Investor. In 2018 they published the first of an exciting new fictional book series with Oxford University Press.
