We continued to provide credentialing for our members that are eligible to earn the credentials of CVT, both in our state and by state reciprocity for those entering our state. We re-established relationships with the new NJVMA executive board and the NJ State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, in hopes of unifying our veterinary healthcare teams and goals for professional recognition of all our members in the coming years. We established 3 new committees in early summer to begin to set the foundation for these future goals, as well as address the current needs of our membership -the Legal Committee, Wellbeing Committee, and PR. The descriptions of these committees and their chairs can be found on our website: www.njvta.com/committees Our VNI Grassroots subcommittee (under Legal) will be launching in January 2021, as we officially begin to explore recognition and title protection for CVT's in NJ; potentially with a title change. We will be communicating regularly to the entire membership on this venture and will only do what our members want, so be sure to get involved on one of the committees or be sure to complete the surveys when they are sent out. Financially we are stable, but without our conference income, we are not building income, so the concern of sustainability for the organization is a priority for 2021. As we are striving to avoid a membership fee increase, we will begin to collect a small fee for job placement ads and will also be selling NJVTA branded merchandise on the website- watch for these in 2021. We are brainstorming best value for membership (virtual events, small roundtable sponsored focus group dinners on high level topics, discounts with vendors, etc.) to draw more members in or have lapsed members renew. All ideas are most welcome, and we love to hear from our members. The NJVTA is recognized as one of the top veterinary technician associations in the country, mostly due to the passion of its members, which is represented by your board. 2021 is an election year, and now more than ever, is your opportunity to get involved and make a difference in your profession in NJ. Watch for an announcement regarding the elections coming out soon and consider running for a position if you are qualified or joining any of the committees listed to have your voice heard. Together, we can advance the veterinary technician profession in New Jersey to the level of recognition and professionalism it needs and deserves. We look forward to your involvement and thank you for your continued support and involvement.
