NorVal Electric Cooperative
NorVal's office is in Glasgow. As of 2020, there are 1,440 miles of overhead distribution line and 555 miles of underground distribution line that serves 3,770 meters and 1,920 member-owners. NorVal Electric has 19 employees. NorVal Electric is proud to support healthy local economic growth by striving to do the majority of its business locally. Except for some specialized utility equipment and line hardware items which have to be purchased from outside electric suppliers, the cooperative buys and spends locally. Over $3,500,000 annually in the form of payroll, or goods and services purchased, is contributed to the local economy. NorVal also pays over $350,000 in property taxes annually. Service to its members is the priority of NorVal Electric Co-op. We have a team of linemen located throughout our service territory who are fully trained to provide excellent service and work hard to keep the power on. Supporting them is a complete line of modern aerial line maintenance equipment. The outage response crews are trained to work fast and efficiently, but most importantly they work safely, as safety is the key to a job well done. NorVal Electric offers other services to its membership in accordance with the seventh cooperative principle, concern for community by giving annual scholarship opportunities for the youth in the area, providing a monthly newsletter of cooperative happenings and a monthly magazine published by the statewide association, in addition to sponsoring theater productions, local high school sports teams and sporting events.
