Northern School of Contemporary Dance
Northern School of Contemporary Dance is a unique dance training institution offering a select group of students the opportunity to develop and excel as dance artists in a conservatoire environment. The majority of students at NSCD are undertaking the three-year professional training programme, validated by the University of Kent and leading to the award of Bachelor of Performing Arts with Honours in Contemporary Dance. To provide access for less experienced students the School offers the Foundation Course in Contemporary Dance, which allows progression onto degree level professional training. Post-degree study is also offered in the form of the Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Dance. This programme provides professional development opportunities through a number of distinct pathways, including the innovative Graduate Apprenticeship Scheme and Verve, the postgraduate performance company of NSCD. The college also offers a Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Choreography. To provide community access and participation, NSCD's Education and Community Department offers a range of dance activities including evening and weekend courses for adults and children. Summer schools are also held annually for young people with an interest in pursuing dance at higher education level.
