North Smithfield School Department

I am pleased to introduce myself as the school principal. We house preschool through grade two and are the only early childhood school in the district. Our mission is to prepare each student to be a successful and responsible member of society. We provide a safe and positive learning environment that meets the needs of each student. Our very dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure that every child meets his or her full potential. We believe that the foundation of learning is the development of strong literacy skills. We utilize the research based Treasures Reading program by Macmillan McGraw-Hill. In math we have developed a Kindergarten through grade eight curriculum based on the Grade Level Expectations with specific assessments as well as performance based tasks. As a tool we utilize the Envisions Math Program from Pearson Learning. We believe in open communication between the home and the school. We welcome parent involvement as an important part of our school community. We are lucky to have an active Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and Special Education Local Advisory Council (SELAC). Our PTO coordinates all fundraising for our Cultural Arts programs in the school. Through the efforts of our parents and our PTO our school is truly enriched. In closing, it is a privilege to be a partner in the education of your children.
