North Texas Behavioral Health Authority
The North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA) seeks to develop a collaborative system of care for individuals experiencing mental illness and/or a substance use disorder. Collaborative Responsibility is the belief that the public healthcare system, which serves a community, is the responsibility of that community. Stakeholders, in cooperation with each other, develop, implement, evaluate, and amend an integrated service delivery system which provides appropriate and timely services with significant and positive results for the people who receive them. A public health service system developed utilizing Collaborative Responsibility is: 1) sustainable, 2) supported by the community it serves, and 3) overseen locally. Collaborative Responsibility for NorthSTAR is based upon forming partnerships with all stakeholders in the delivery of mental health and substance abuse services to enhance the health of the entire community. The design of any health system should have the following statement as the guiding parameter: ...Think populations, see individuals.
