Welcome to Nogales Unified School District! I would like to follow up on the outbreak of COVID-19, referred as Coronavirus. There is a lot of different information being circulated about the virus and we understand that it is causing much concern. The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) will be hosting a series of COVID-19 public health webinars. The purpose is to cover disease background, Arizona&s;s response activities, what we know, what you should do, and allow time for questions and answers. The first webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 2:00pm. We will be watching and studying as well as our health/nurse professionals- team. ADHS is also developing a guidance for schools and will be available later this week. The district has not been informed of any confirmed cases in Santa Cruz County at this time. There has been one confirmed case and 26 tested in Arizona. At this time we understand that this virus has minimal impact on children. It is still critical, and in order to keep our students and all school communities safe and healthy, we recommend that students and staff with respiratory/flu symptoms or illness stay home or seek medical assistance. We will continue to follow up and keep up with the latest information as you know it rapidly changes. We will continue to send students home/referred to doctor- clinic if they are having and showing sever flu like symptoms with fever when getting sick at school.
