Olivet Community Schools

We continue to provide more scratch-cooking and batch-cooking recipes for the student menus. Our goal is one of continuous improvement for pre â€"K to 12 student meals to provide fresh ingredients and less processed food products that are cost effective. We will continue to coordinate with local venders and our school greenhouse receiving fresh greens, and assorted vegetables and fruits year round. We participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs to provide free and reduced meals to children of families who have a financial need. We urge you to apply for the Free and Reduced Meals program as many of the supplemental grants and aid we receive from state and federal sources are based on our number of eligible free and reduced students in the district. Application forms, instructions and the income scale for Free and Reduced will be available at the school offices or download the application from the school food service web site. Families may apply for Free and Reduced Meals anytime in the school year to help if a financial need occurs or the number in the household increases. If you are currently receiving food stamps or FIP/FDPIR benefits for your child, you only need to list the student names and case numbers and sign the application, including the last four digits of an adult social security number. In most cases foster, runaway and migrant children qualify for meals regardless of the household income. Families with students who qualified for Free or Reduced Meals last year have a 30-day grace period or until September 30th  to file a new application for the 2015-16 school year. New applicants should submit applications as soon as possible in September to begin the benefit of Free or Reduced Meals. All applications are strictly confidential. If a doctor has determined that your child has a disability, and the disability would prevent your child from eating the regular school menu, the school will make any substitution prescribed by a doctor at no extra charge. The doctor’s statement, including the prescribed diet must be submitted to the Olivet Schools food service department.
