Osterkamp Trucking

Gus Osterkamp founded Osterkamp Trucking in 1961 with a vision to provide the highest quality service possible. In Gus's words, "Service simply means giving the customer whatever it is he wants, and this can only be accomplished through hard work." By 1968, Osterkamp Trucking grew to a $1MM operation with 11 sets of flatbeds, six tractors, three owner-operators, and ambition to grow the company even further. And grow it did. By 1980, Osterkamp operated 100 tractors, 80 flatbed semis and 80 sets of flatbed doubles. Osterkamp's exceptional service and attention to detail allowed the company to navigate through the 1980s recessionary times, fuel shortages, and rising operating costs and deregulation. In recognition of Osterkamp's success and leadership, founder Gus Osterkamp was named the California Trucking Association (CTA) President in 1988. As CTA President, Gus Osterkamp brought the same work ethic and service standard that had built Osterkamp Trucking to California's leading transportation association. In 1985, Osterkamp founded Dedicated Fleet Systems and in 1986 acquired Frontier Transportation. Both Dedicated and Frontier developed into stand-alone entities each independent. A careful tactic to ensure a smaller company's personalized service and better customer response. By 1988, Osterkamp Trucking growth included more than 150 semi, flatbeds, and 120 sets of double vans and expanded its service reach to eleven western states. The principal area of operation was, and continues to be the Western states. Today, customers are serviced through three California terminals located in El Centro, Pomona, as well as an Oregon-based terminal in Rainier. The 1990s was a time of consistent and exciting growth for the company with the launching of several new terminals including the tremendous $4 million terminal on a 12-acre site in Pomona which included 10 bays, a 20,000 sq. ft. shop, and 8000 sq. ft. of office space.
