Panix, is the oldest commercial Internet provider in New York, and we're dedicated to providing stable and reliable Internet access, email, netnews and UNIX computing services to the public. We started in 1989, well before the advent of the Internet, and we're still going strong. Panix is a full-service ISP, offering web hosting, Internet connectivity of all kinds in the New York metro area (New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland County, and New Jersey), and National Dialup -- with dialup access in over 1100 locations in 49 states, and DSL in the NYC area. We also provide actual and virtual colocation, and are available for network consulting services. We also specialize in UNIX shell access, from anywhere on the Internet, anywhere in the world. We started as a local provider, with users in the New York City region. Over the years, our population has spread out, and we now have shell users living all over the United States and in many other parts of the world. Our shell users constitute an active community, representing expertise and opinions on a wide range of topics. Our newsgroups provide lively discussions and exchanges of information on lots of different topics.
