Parkview Community Church

At Parkview our mission is to guide spiritually disconnected people into authentic Christian community. Much of this mission takes place within our church building as we are equipped for ministry and worship together. Some of it takes place in homes as we study the Scriptures and share life in small groups. Still other parts of our mission are expressed as we serve the church and our neighbors. There is another huge part of this that is more difficult to see or quantify. How we pursue the mission in our everyday lives says a lot about our priorities. Our love for God and people is seen most clearly at work, at school, in our neighborhoods, and with our friends and family. While the activity within Parkview's building matters greatly, it is our behavior outside of the building that most clearly shows our commitment to the cause of Christ in our world. Hearing stories of how Parkview people are pursuing the mission can be a great encouragement. Oftentimes these stories are shared between a couple of friends or over dinner with the family. You'll never believe the conversation I had over lunch at work today! We've been taking meals to our neighbor after her surgery. I think I've talked our class into helping out with the Darfur fund raiser. Our hope with Glimpses of the Kingdom is to capture some of these conversations and share them with the whole Parkview community. This is not a matter of bragging or pretending like we've got this whole mission thing figured out. It's about encouraging each other, learning from each other, and imagining the possibilities. As the author of Hebrews put it, this is about considering "how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds."
