PatoGen

PatoGen offers typing of virus isolates for virulence characterisation or as part of the work to trace transmission routes. This service is not part of PatoGen's scope of accreditation. We are able to offer fast typing of ISAV with respect to virulence as expressed by HPR0 or HPR0, and detailed phylogenetic analysis of ISAV-virus strains. We are now also able to offer typing of IPNV strains to understand transmission routes and we can distinguish between highly virulent and less virulent variants of IPNV. We also have a typing system for PD virus that distinguishes between SAV 1, 2 and 3. We use this to distinguish, among other things, between vaccinated and infected fish. On account of the very limited genetic variation in Norwegian PD virus, comparisons between Norwegian PD virus strains currently produce limited information.
