Patrington Haven Leisure Park

Patrington Haven Leisure Park

Originally Patrington Haven Leisure Park was known as RAF Patrington. RAF Patrington opened during the Second World War in 1942 and was a radar station, used for ground-controlled interception. In 1955, following the building of a new RAF station at nearby Holmpton, the radar site closed, being surplus to requirements. The new radar site at Holmpton was later renamed RAF Patrington. The RAF base stood empty for many years until a vision to develop a garden in the country holiday park was set underway in 1984; a year later Patrington Haven Leisure Park was officially opened by Vera Duckworth (Elizabeth Dawn) of Coronation Street in 1985. Since the beginning, the Leisure Park has been continually developed with new facilities, new caravan bases, landscaping and much more to become of the finest caravan parks in Yorkshire. The Park is a multiple winner of the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award for Best Holiday Park and the much-coveted Yorkshire in Bloom award for Best Holiday Park in Yorkshire. RAF Patrington played an important role in protecting the people of the British Isles and as Patrington Haven Leisure Park, it is our hope that we can play an important role in creating somewhere for the whole family to make memories that will last a lifetime.
