Peak Ecology
Peak Ecology provide the full range of habitat surveys for assessing the ecological value of a site and identifying potential constraints. We also provide practical advice on habitat restoration, creation or enhancement and are experienced in Habitat Action Plan production. Our experienced botanists can provide a full range of botanical survey and monitoring services for all UK habitats and our offices are ideally located to serve Scotland, Wales and England. Our expertise allows us to encompass a range of projects from developments requiring a simple walkover survey such as a single wind turbine or property development, to more detailed or specialist surveys within designated sites e.g. SSSIs, SPAs, SACs and Local Wildlife Sites. Our technical director Carol Crawford specialises in vegetation surveys and conservation management plans and has particular knowledge of woodland, peatland, coastal and grassland habitats particularly in the Scottish uplands and lowlands. She has also published 'Bryophytes of Native Woods - A Field Guide to Common Mosses and Liverworts of Britain and Ireland's Woodlands' and can offer specialist surveys if required. Our clients include local developers, statutory agencies (e.g. Scottish Natural Heritage), local and National Park authorities (e.g. Peak District National Park Authority), government agencies (e.g. Forestry Commission), conservation organisations, and commercial/ industrial developers. The more common surveys we undertaken are: Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey Phase 2 Habitat Survey National Vegetation Classification Survey (NVC) Site Condition Monitoring (SCM) And we also offer: Hedgerow surveys River corridor survey and aquatic plant survey Invasive weed survey Ancient woodland survey Specialist surveys e.g. fungi, lichens and bryophytes For large-scale developments see Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA).
