Pearpoint manufactures video equipment for pipeline inspection that is primarily utilized for municipal, industrial, manufacturing, petrochemical and residential applications. Among other things, Pearpoint custom-fits vans with video camera equipment and computer systems that municipalities/municipal contractors then purchase for efficient inspection of sewer pipes. Through its strong leadership and management vision, Pearpoint has gained a reputation for being the Rolls Royce of the video inspection industry, selling products worldwide in over 43 countries. Pearpoint was founded in 1983 by Alan Sefton. Sefton, after working in television manufacturing with the Rees Company (Rees produced systems for the nuclear inspection market and developed some early sewer rehabilitation projects), left Rees to develop his ideas for a new inspection system. Transforming its size, form and function, Pearpoint has come up with some amazing new applications. To fuel product development and improvement, Pearpoint continually reinvests in research and development. This investment has produced some unique products, including labeled and listed cameras and equipment, pan & tilt cameras with interchangeable heads, large-diameter steerable crawlers with power lift mechanisms to keep the camera centered in the pipe and a universal controller that can operate any Pearpoint camera or crawler from inside a truck or out in the field.
