R.A. Pearson Company, a Spokane business that designs and manufactures packaging machinery, has signed a $5 million contract with Coca-Cola, and other beverage companies are taking notice. Pearson will build 80 new machines for Coke that will efficiently distribute 12-pack cartons of cans, called "fridge packs", by taping them together as a single unit for easier handling. "Fridge packs" are expected to become the industry standard in the next 5 to 10 years, which could mean even more business for the company. The Linoleum Shop celebrates 70 years in business in Spokane this year, and over that time they've moved a long way beyond linoleum.
