Pelican Point Kayaking

Pelican Point Kayaking

Pelican Point, part of the newly proclaimed Dorob National Park, provides a home to up to 50.000 Cape Fur seals, lots of Heaviside's and Bottlenose dolphins, black-backed jackals, flamingoes, pelicans and even the brown hyena. Our Pelican Point lighthouse, erected nearly 100 years ago, still casts a guiding light to sailors every night. To get to our remote kayaking site at the tip of the Pelican Point Peninsula, we need to cover 40km on salt roads and soft sand, strictly 4x4. This inaccessibility allows us to use our kayaks to visit and interact with our marine mammals without disturbing them. We are treated as part of the ocean, not as a threat. Our seals are playful and curious and sometimes come up to us to play with our paddles and to splash water at you.
