Perth Festival of the Arts
Perth Festival of the Arts is an annual 11 day May Festival, founded in 1972, and taking place in the City of Perth in Scotland. It is now in its 45th Year and is one of the oldest continuously running arts Festivals in Scotland. t started as an opera and classical music festival in the early '70s and now covers all artforms. e hope that when the brochure hits the doormat or the twitter feed that there will be something in the programme for all the family. he bottom line for the Festival is top quality. We hope to bring to Perth shows that you may not see at other times of the year. We like big names too. Here are a few who have performed at the Festival in recent years Bryn Terfel, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Nigel Kennedy, Joshua Bell, Alison Balsom, Barbara Bonney, Lesley Garrett, Van Morrison, Nicola Benedetti, Elaine Paige, Jools Holland, The Proclaimers, Dara O Briain, Russell Howard, Paul Merton, Julian Clary, Jack Bruce, The Magic Numbers, Calvin Harris, Admiral Fallow, Kassidy, Jack Bruce, Edwyn Collins, Sharleen Spiteri, Joan Armatrading, The Waterboys, The Stranglers, Don MacLean, Richard Hawley, Seth Lakeman, Bill Wyman, Courtney Pine, Mnozil Brass, Ukulele Orchestra, Ann Sofie Von Otter, John Williams, Dougie MacLean, King Creosote, Scouting for Girls, Kassidy ... and many more. The Festival stages full scale opera each year with wonderful productions by English Touring Opera who have come to the Festival each year since 2001. The Festival is an independent registered charity and a very lean organisation so all the funds raised go to keeping ticket prices as low as possible. The aim is to put on a great Festival each year.
