These departments are currently offering 4-year bachelors degree programmes, with plans to start Masters programme in the near future. PIFD is the premier institute which over two decades ago took the initiative to open a Fashion Design school in Pakistan. Over the years with hard work, determination and a clear vision, the school, Pakistan School of Fashion Design (PSFD), transcended into Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD); a degree awarding Institute which is chartered by the Government of Pakistan. The honorable President of Pakistan is the Chancellor of PIFD, and the honorable Minister of Commerce is the Pro-Chancellor of PIFD. Today PIFD is opening doors to career opportunities which were not available in Pakistan before, thus paving paths for cultural and industrial development in the country. With quality education under supervision of qualified faculty, foreign consultants, and the industry linkages, our graduates are highly preferred in the job market, with up to 100% employment rate. PIFD encourages diversity in student enrollments, thus as per a set quota seats are allocated to students from all over Pakistan. Over the years there has been an increase in number of international students. The Institute strives to meet new challenges, expand itself in the field of research, build international linkages, and form international inter-university collaborations. Students and faculty at PIFD have the opportunity to attend international trainings and workshops. They visit prestigious institutes like Fashion Institute of Technology New York, USA, University College of Boras, Sweden, Mod'Spe Paris, France and Ecole de La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Paris, France. PIFD is in collaboration with Rhode Island School of Design for the training of faculty under the sponsorship of USAID. he growth of PIFD and its present stature is due to the support of the Government and the Senate members, and its strong base is because of its faculty, staff and student body. With the support of them, PIFD envisions to pursue new endeavours, starting with the opening of a Research Cell at the Institute and beginning of post-graduate degree programmes.
