PlaneEnglish

PlaneEnglish is an application-based simulator of aviation radio communications. It simulates communication between pilot and air traffic control (ATC) and enables pilots to learn aviation phraseology and radio telephony procedures by exposing users to random scenarios in all phases of flight and by analyzing and assessing their phraseology, speech accuracy, speech rate, and speech delay performance. Where do I get PlaneEnglish? PlaneEnglish is available for Android now and can be downloaded on Google Play by simply searching for "PlaneEnglish" or by following the Google Play link on the PlaneEnglish website. Is PlaneEnglish available on iOS? PlaneEnglish is currently available only on Android. Our team is working on the iOS development and should launch it in a few months. Follow and contribute to our Kickstarter campaign to get early access to the iOS simulator and development updates. What specs should my mobile device have for best performance? For best performance, the Android device should have at least Android 7. Do I need to be online to use PlaneEnglish? You need to be online to download PlaneEnglish and to update the software whenever updates are available. You do not need to be online to use PlaneEnglish and any of its lessons. How do I use PlaneEnglish? After downloading PlaneEnglish, simply follow the quick tutorial that shows you how to navigate the simulation, use the mic and speaker buttons, the Help and transcription options, and how to change the various speech and voice settings. Once you are able to navigate the simulation, simply pick a lesson in the START LEARNING module, then follow the prompts. Following the lessons in the order in which they are listed will guide you through increasingly complex situations and lessons. It's my first time using PlaneEnglish, where should I start? If you are new to flying, we recommend starting with the REFRESH BASICS module. This will teach you the phonetic alphabet, how to pronounce numbers, and expose you to some key phrases used in aviation. If you already know these basics, then jump to the LEARN module to step through the various lessons of PlaneEnglish. What lessons does PlaneEnglish cover? The PlaneEnglish curriculum is built around the phases of flight: taxi out, takeoff, flight follow, flight plan activation, airspace entrance, approaches, and taxi in. There are multiple lessons for each phase of flight that are increasingly complex and expose the user to more challenging situations and dialogues with ATC. What airports does PlaneEnglish include? Currently PlaneEnglish has a database of 45 U.S.-based airports of Class-E, Class-D, and Class-C. What if my favorite airport is not in PlaneEnglish? Let us know which is your favorite airport or the airport that you want to see in PlaneEnglish and we will include it in our next round of updates. Send us an email and we'll add it. What is the privacy policy of PlaneEnglish? PlaneEnglish does not collect any personal information. PlaneEnglish does keep track of the user activities within the app as they pertain to the PlaneEglish app and its lessons. This is to ensure that we identify issues that cause the App to malfunction and that we continue to improve our speech analysis algorithms.
