Playa Grande Surf Camp
Playa Grande Surf Camp is located in the northern Costa Rican province of Guanacaste in the heart of a Costa Rican Nature Preserve, Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas de Guanacaste. Less then 10 meters from the beach of Playa Grande, which is a pristine stretch of white sand on the Pacific Ocean. Our staff is available daily from 7am to 9pm to help you with tours, booking rooms and surf lessons. The beach at Playa Grande is the permanent nesting site for leatherback turtles. It provides a safe landing vital to the endangered leatherback turtle. Female leatherbacks come ashore during the nights in October to May to lay their eggs in the sand. They then cover the eggs and return to the ocean. The eco-friendly Costa Rican government has gone to great lengths to protect the habitat of these amazing animals. This has allowed Playa Grande to remain a sanctuary for both the turtles and surfers alike, and surfers from all over have christened Playa Grande as home of some of Costa Rica's best waves. The waves at Playa Grande Beach offers a premium spot for intermediate surfers and the inside section allows us to teach beginners how to surf in the safety of the white water. For advanced surfers a short walk down the beach takes you to the main surf break which is one of the premium surfing waves in Playa Grande. We offer a wide range of surf tours and surf lesson packages as well as surfboard rentals on site. We will welcome you in our three cabanas with A/C and two elevated cabanas with fan and balconies, complete with hammocks. Guests share two communal bathrooms. There is also a common kitchen area and a barbecue for our guests to share, as well as a swimming pool and surfboards to rent. The entire property is a wifi zone and there are plenty of hammock spaces to relax and read. We offer daily maid service and can help you with any tours or trips that you might be planning. Our staff is available to help you and can answer most questions you may have. There are three restaurants in the neighborhood within walking distance as well as a small supermarket. With prime location near the town of Tamarindo, travelers have both options of either enjoying the relaxed setting in Playa Grande or checking out the more lively social scene that Tamarindo offers. Getting to Tamarindo is just a short walk down the beach or nature trail where a water taxi will take you across the mangrove estuary river. While in Tamarindo enjoy its restaurants, groceries, shopping, art, crafts and night life.
