Pleasant Ridge Town Center
Schickel Development, the premier developer of lifestyle centers in Central Arkansas, was founded in 1974 by Lou Schickel with the acquisition of property on Highway 10. Mr. Schickel graduated from Cornell University with a degree in civil engineering. He worked on numerous projects around the world while employed by American Bridge, a division of U. S. Steel. He and his family moved to Little Rock in 1966 to work for Peter Kiewit Engineering on the construction of Murray Lock and Dam. He and his wife, Lenore, soon fell in love with the city and decided to stay after the project was completed. Soon afterwards, Mr. Schickel started Schickel's Cleaners with the opening of his first store in Southwest Little Rock. Over the years, Schickel's Cleaners has expanded to four locations with more on the way. The Highway 10 location in Little Rock is the highest volume drycleaner in Arkansas. At the same time he was building his drycleaning business, he was also acquiring and developing real estate. Schickel Development has now become one of the most successful development companies in Arkansas. Schickel Development's current showcase project is Pleasant Ridge Town Center. When completed, Pleasant Ridge Town Center will rival the best shopping centers in the world.
