Politec Global IT Services, one of the largest Brazilian IT Services providers, maintains its reliance on the Financial Services/Banking industry vertical to fuel its expansion. Recently, it was ranked #43 of the Top 100 Companies on the FinTech Index, which is compiled by the publication American Banker and research firm Financial Insights. According to its Director of Business Development and Alliances, Paulo Henrique de Oliveira, the ranking demonstrates Politec&s;s strength in this industry, which has always been one of the strongest ones in its comprehensive and mixed industry-segment portfolio. "A convergence of factors that took place in 2008 led us to a good result. We have had a lot of success with our two main business development focus: Public and Financial sectors", said the executive. "These two verticals are primarily responsible for our organic revenue growth during 2008." He did not disclose any numbers, but said that both the revenue and the amount of investment is anticipated to grow in 2009, propelled - in great part - "by the power of the financial sector." "Today, Brazil is seen as a reference in the financial sector and this is of great help for us, in achieving a privileged leadership position and market share", added Mr. Oliveira. The company targets mid-large sized organizations, which - with the current financial crisis - could bring a significant reduction of demands, if it wasn&s;t - according to the executive - for some of the mergers that are taking place in the industry. "The crisis, from one perspective, has made the market more restrictive to larger projects. From another perspective though, mergers and acquisitions like Ita-Unibanco end up bringing some balance to the demand", he said. According to the executive, there is a migration need from new products development to systems integration and application maintenance services.
