Powercoders
Powercoders is a computer coding school for refugees, supported by the State Secretariat for Migration. Its goal is to set up six course programs in Switzerland over the next three years. Currently, the non-profit organization is establishing its project in Lausanne after a great success in Bern and Zurich. Switzerland has too few IT specialists: the latest study of the professional association ICT Vocational Training Switzerland predicts a shortage of 24,800 professionals by 2024. On the other hand, Europe faces challenges because of the refugee flow. Never before have so many people (more than 65 million) been on the run. In Switzerland too, immigration is one of the main concerns of the population. Among these, the professional integration of refugees becomes an increasingly difficult task for the authorities. By offering refugees the opportunity to directly get a job in the computer industry, the Powercoders association helps reduce social costs and reduce the shortage of qualified personnel.
