Precision Peripherals
Precision Peripherals Ltd was founded in 1982 by Colin and Margaret Richards. Colin had many years in the computer service industry before spending 5 years with Dataproducts, then the world's largest independent manufacturer of printers, which were the standard printing device for the majority of the minicomputer manufacturers. Precision Peripherals was then formed to sell and service refurbished Dataproducts band and drum printers in a converted barn in a small village in Berkshire. Originally the only field engineer was Colin who used to regularly travel throughout the UK fixing printers. The service side grew until there were a number of engineers around the country. It was in the late 1980s that PPL began to offer maintenance contracts on the then new laser printers which were just then becoming popular. As the demand for this service increased, more engineers were recruited, and the business expanded again.
