Michael Zimmerman's Prentice Capital Management, LP was formed in early 2005. The Prentice Capital Management investment strategy encompasses primarily U.S. companies in the consumer and retail sectors, with a particular focus on companies with market capitalizations of between $500 million and $10 billion. The investments are typically strong brands with depressed margins at reasonable valuations with satisfactory balance sheets. This fundamentally-driven approach lends itself to finding value, more often than not in turn-around situations. The Fund's performance objective is straightforward: to produce strong absolute returns over a full market cycle while protecting capital during falling markets. We believe the key to producing excellent long term returns is protecting capital during difficult times, while being prudent during feverishly bullish times.
