It was first published on Dec. 2, 1960 as the Valley Press. The owners of the Valley Press created the Scotts Valley Banner, which was first published on Feb. 27, 1974. After an ownership change in 2005, the papers merged under the name Press Banner on April 26, 2006. The Press Banner has been published by Tank Town Media, owned by Will Fleet and Ralph Alldredge, since October 2012. The Valley Press and Scotts Valley Banner, under the name Press Banner, are adjudicated official general circulation newspapers in Santa Cruz County. The Press-Banner is delivered every Friday to more than 11,000 homes and business in Scotts Valley, Felton, Ben Lomond, and Boulder Creek for free. The paper is also available at no charge at more than 70 businesses in Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley. Paid subscriptions are available at $65/year. Articles, photos and complete e-editions are available at www.pressbanner.com. Prior copies of the paper in the past 12 months are available free of charge at the Scotts Valley office. The Press Banner, with offices at 5215 Scotts Valley Drive, Scotts Valley, Calif., is the only weekly newspaper in Scotts Valley and the communities of the San Lorenzo Valley.
