Proyecto Aventura
PROYECTO AVENTURA is an organization created to promote a healthy lifestyle through non-traditional sports in places that discover Ecuador's beauty. We have been organizing adventure races for ten years, and it is through the activities and events we plan that we are looking to strengthen Ecuador's reputation as a country known worldwide for its healthy lifestyle, its good natural resource management, and its model as a responsible adventure racing destination for racers and the environment. We make sure that each one of races discovers the most breathtaking and beautiful sites that the Ecuadorian geography has to offer, in order to share interests with people who support our work. Likewise, we try to promote ecological tourism, as well as sustainable development of the local communities through which our races pass. The backbone of PROYECTO AVENTURA's work is respect for nature and the competitors who take part in our races. As racers ourselves, we take on the commitment of creating spaces where athletes can practice adventure racing and protect and care for the environment so that each of the places we visit in our races are preserved in their natural state so that future generations can live and enjoy them, too. Over the past ten years we have organized many kinds of initiatives and events with the support of many sponsors. The most important and renowned races we organize nationally and internationally are: Huairasinchi (A four-day non-stop adventure race where teams race from the highlands to the coast or the Amazon; activities include mountain biking, trekking, orientation, ropes, and kayaks) El Reto (A competition of three races where three-person teams compete in disciplines of mountain biking, trekking, and orienteering) Tour Montaña (Two races, 1 one-day long, and 1 two-day long, for mountain bikers) Raid Triatlón Xterra (Ecuador's first Xterra race; a triathlon ran on the beach in Salinas) Energizer Night Race (A massive race run in Quito's Metropolitan Park at night using Energizer headlamps) Non-Stop (A 24-hour non-stop race run close to Quito; disciplines include mountain biking, trekking, orientation, and ropes) Shunkuñan (A benefit trail running race where all proceeds are donated to a good cause)
