Managed accounts are generally set up as commingled fund structures which have most of the characteristics of segregated investment portfolios such as full transparency and institutional quality operational controls. In our seeding/acceleration capital business, we identify next generation managers with whom we partner. Our partnership is ongoing and is focused on helping them build an institutional quality business and making their product offering appealing to institutional investors. We add value by providing advice on their offering and investment framework, overlaying comprehensive risk management tools, and utilizing our global marketing capabilities to raise assets for them. In our customized portfolio solutions business, we work closely with institutional investors to understand their portfolio objectives. Based on long experience, we construct multi-manager portfolios that are transparent and address all the requirements and constraints critical to each individual investor. Our value added is in manager selection and monitoring, asset allocation, risk management and reporting, and structuring investments through managed accounts. Our objective is to address the investment and operational needs of the most demanding investors.
