Bayside Elementary School

Bayside Elementary School

Bayside Elementary School is located on Kent Island in Queen Anne's County. We are located near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the gateway to Maryland's beautiful Eastern Shore. The school building was opened in September of 1991 as a second building to Kent Island Elementary School; it housed 2nd through 4th grades. Since then, it has accommodated many grade level configurations which have changed with the needs of our community and the school system. In the 2011-2012 school year, Bayside Elementary School, became a campus school with Kent Island Elementary School. The campus school consists of grades Pre-K to 5. The Bayside building houses grades 3-5 and the Kent Island building houses grades PreK-2. Bayside is now home to approximately 400 students. For the 2014-2015 school year, we have seventeen classrooms (six 3rd grade, five 4th grade, and six 5th grade) as well as our Regional Communication Program which specializes in meeting the needs of students with severe challenges in communication. We are an inclusive school that offers students instruction in the core subject areas of Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies as well as Music, Art, Physical Education, and Media.
