QBD Books

Over the many years leading up to the 1980s QBD developed into a major retailer in Queensland. By this time QBD had 50 stores across Queensland selling a large range of religious and general books, stationery plus specialising in student text books. As with many retailers that failed to identify and keep pace with changing consumer trends the business started to face trading difficulties and was placed on the market by the church. It was sold a number of times at which point the business was no longer viable as an ongoing concern and the stores were sold off individually in 1991. This offered the Robinson family their first opportunity into business ownership with the purchase of QBD at Garden City Shopping Centre Mt Gravatt, Queensland.
