Quality Seeds Ltd. is a Canadian owned & operated forage, lawn & turf company based in Woodbridge, Ontario Canada. Quality Seeds Ltd. is a family owned business started by Paul Ekstein in 1956. During the years he operated the company Paul covered the roads of Ontario selling forage seeds to many farmers in Ontario. All the seeds were mixed and delivered from a rented warehouse in the back of a small narrow laneway in downtown Toronto. Paul was basically a "one man show", selling, mixing and delivering all by himself. Paul built his reputation with hard work, early mornings and supplying a reliable quality product to his dedicated customers. In the mid 70's Paul moved from the confines of downtown Toronto to a warehouse in Mississauga. In the summer of 1980 Paul completed a life long dream of operating his own dairy farm. Quality Holsteins had a new home with Quality Seeds setting up shop in a new building on the farm location in Woodbridge. In the early 1990's Paul's son Ari completed his business degree at York University and started to work with Paul. Ari quickly developed a love for the seed business and after a few years he started dedicating his time into developing Quality Seeds. Since the mid 1990's Quality Seeds has grown into one of the largest forage, lawn & turf companies with over 60 sales reps and distributors throughout Eastern Canada. Quality Seeds offers an extensive line-up of No. 1 rated proprietary forages and turf grasses. Quality Seeds works with the elite forage and turf breeding programs in the world to source the best available genetics. In order to insure only the best varieties make it to market, varieties are planted on our research farm and entered into local variety testing programs. Quality Seeds contract produces all of our forage and turf production with the top producers throughout Western Canada and Western United States. All lots of seed are tested before arriving to our Woodbridge warehouse. Upon arrival these lots are retested to assure only the highest quality lots of seed are used. Quality Seeds is a CFIA accredited authorized importer as well as an approved conditioner with an approved grader on staff. In 2000 Quality Seeds expanded its storage capacity from 6000 sq. ft. to 18,500 sq. ft. with the construction of a new warehouse. As the business continues to grow at a rapid rate the need for even more storage space was a leaved with the construction of an additional warehouse in the fall of 2004. The new warehouse provided an additional 18,000sq. ft. of storage for a total of 36,500 sq. ft. Quality Seeds has evolved from a modest single person operation to one of the fastest growing forage lawn & turf seed companies in Eastern Canada.
