Re-Solv
Re-Solv is one of only two national charities in the UK that work to prevent volatile substance misuse. Although it can kill instantly, VSA is legal, and the products are available inexpensively from your local shop. 23% of 11-15 year olds were offered volatile substances last year. It's vital that we continue a programme of education so that young people today have the information and confidence they need to say 'no'. The proportion of adult deaths caused by VSA has increased (see VSA annual report no 24), so Re-Solv urgently needs to initiate appropriate new strategies to support the work of drug and treatment agencies. Re-Solv acts as a representative body for those of its members who are manufacturers or retailers of the products which can be misused. Re-Solv's Members receive discounts on all professional training packages and resources, making it cost-effective for our agency members to meet youth, drug and training targets. The consequences of VSA affect us all by creating social problems within our communities. It contributes directly to criminal behaviour (being associated particularly with a rise in ASBOs), and indirectly as a 'gateway' for young people into problematic, illegal drug use. Most importantly, Re-Solv works to support those whose lives have been affected by VSA. Re-Solv relies on our members for a significant percentage of our core funding, which means that you really will be making the work we do possible.
