Resource Conflict Institute
Resource Conflict Institute (RECONCILE) was established in 1999 and registered in Kenya as a regional NGO in May 2001. It aspires to cover the greater Eastern Africa and is currently implementing programmes in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia through strategic partnerships. We are based in Nakuru, and that gives it access to rural livelihoods that interact with in line with our mandate. The Institute conducts policy and legal research on environmental and natural resource governance, undertakes public interest environmental education and advocate for policies, laws and practices that empower resource dependent communities to influence policy processes and institutions that have a bearing on their access, use, ownership and management of natural resources and natural resource conflicts. In doing this, the Institute focuses on building the capacity of citizens/community groups and organizations on policy processes, advocacy, and collaborative natural resource governance and on how to negotiate conflict free and community empowering investments on natural resources.
