Since that time, Republic Locomotive has rebuilt virtually every type of locomotive from the smallest yard switchers to the largest road locomotives. Beginning in 1990, Republic Locomotive began building new locomotives as well, culminating in the RX500 AC traction powered industrial switch engine. Republic Locomotive has built new industrial switchers, Class I road switchers, commuter locomotives, branch line units and transit switchers. The company has rebuilt or remanufactured almost all types of industrial switchers, road switchers and line haul locomotives. The company also offers field service and repairs, and contract maintenance. Consulting services, engineering studies, and operator training are also available.
