Rheinbahn offers public transport service for the neighbouring regions Mettmann, Erkrath, Haan, Heiligenhaus, Hilden, Langenfeld, Monheim, Ratingen, Velbert and Wülfrath as well as Neuss, Meerbusch and Kaarst and operates in further six communities in the surroundings (Duisburg, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Essen, Wuppertal, Solingen, Krefeld). With 739 vehicles, it conveys, on 111 lines, over 720,000 passengers on working days in a commuting area of 570 square kilometres with over a million inhabitants. In 2014, 220 million passengers rode on Rheinbahn`s 135 city railway vehicles, 168 trams and 430 buses, calling at 3,324 stops with an annual performance of 48.2 mill. km - 130 times the distance from the Earth to the moon. 206,000 subscribers rely on the services provided by Rheinbahn.
