Ryan Smith & Carbine
Ryan Smith & Carbine, Ltd. is one of Vermont's oldest and largest law firms. In December, 1945, the death of Major General Leonard F. Wing terminated the existence of Fenton, Wing & Morse, a partnership which had been in existence in Rutland, Vermont since 1922. On January 1, 1946, the surviving partners, Charles F. Ryan, R. Clarke Smith and John D. Carbine, associated themselves as Ryan Smith & Carbine. In 1973, the partnership was converted into the present Professional Corporation, Ryan Smith & Carbine, Ltd. ("RS&C").
